The challenge
Understanding residential electricity demand, and particularly its contribution to system peaks, requires detailed data on how households own and use appliances. Such insight is needed to plan for demand management and efficiency.
Our approach
As Energy Auditor and Researcher, Dr Felix Amankwah Diawuo combined a residential electricity consumption survey with end-use monitoring of 60 households. The study analysed appliance ownership, consumption patterns and their contribution to peak load.
Outcomes
The work produced a detailed picture of residential appliance ownership, consumption and peak-load contribution in Tema, supporting demand and efficiency analysis.
