State of Climate Adaptation in Africa

State of Climate Adaptation in Africa

ClimateUnited Nations Development Programme (UNDP)Africa-wide2023

Co-author of a UNDP report on the State of Climate Adaptation in Africa, covering climate finance, technology deployment and risk transfer for African agriculture and coastal zones.

The challenge

Scaling climate adaptation across Africa depends on a clear, current picture of where finance, technology and risk-transfer mechanisms stand — particularly for the agriculture and coastal sectors most exposed to climate impacts.

Our approach

Dr Benjamin Batinge co-authored UNDP’s report on the State of Climate Adaptation in Africa, contributing analysis of climate finance and technology deployment and of risk transfer for African agriculture and coastal zones.

Outcomes

The report provided a consolidated assessment of climate-adaptation progress and gaps across Africa.

It offered policymakers and finance partners an evidence base for directing adaptation finance and technology to where they are most needed.
