South African Mohair Industry Climate & Value-Chain Model
Development of a system dynamics model examining climate variability and value-chain creation in the South African mohair industry.
The challenge
The South African mohair industry is exposed to climate variability that affects production, while its long-term prospects depend on how value is created along the chain. Understanding these two forces together called for a modelling approach able to capture their dynamics.
Our approach
As Modelling Consultant, Dr Benjamin Batinge developed a system dynamics model addressing climate variability and value-chain creation in the South African mohair industry.
Outcomes
The work produced a system dynamics model of the mohair industry, offering a means to examine how climate variability and value-chain creation shape the sector.
