MoNaL: Sustainable E-Mobility for Sub-Saharan Africa

EnergyBochum University of Applied Sciences (local partner Don Bosco, Ghana)Ghana2023

Development and piloting of a lifecycle-based sustainable mobility system of shared e-mopeds and cargo bikes adapted to local conditions and user requirements.

The challenge

Sustainable mobility in sub-Saharan Africa requires solutions that fit local conditions and user needs rather than imported models. A lifecycle perspective is needed to ensure the systems are genuinely sustainable.

Our approach

As Partner and Researcher, Dr Felix Amankwah Diawuo helped develop and pilot a lifecycle-based sustainable mobility system of shared e-mopeds and cargo bikes, adapted to local conditions and user requirements at Don Bosco, Ghana.

As Project Communications Officer, Romeo Tweneboah-Koduah managed the project's communications, supporting its visibility and engagement.

Outcomes

The project piloted a shared e-moped and cargo-bike mobility system adapted to local conditions and users.

Its lifecycle-based approach and coordinated communications supported sustainable mobility and engagement in the Ghanaian context.
