Ghana Water Resources Management Study (Northern Ghana)

The challenge
Water resources in Northern Ghana are shaped by flows that cross the border with Burkina Faso, making sound management dependent on both local knowledge and a transboundary perspective. A study was needed to bring these strands together for the region.
Our approach
As IWRM Local Expert, Rev. Prof. Ing. Eric Antwi Ofosu provided local water-resources knowledge and transboundary management support for Northern Ghana.
He carried out a desk review, held stakeholder consultations and contributed to report writing, grounding the study in both documented evidence and local perspectives.
Outcomes
The work supplied the World Bank study with local and transboundary water-resources knowledge for Northern Ghana.
The consultations and reporting provide a clearer basis for managing shared water resources across the Ghana–Burkina Faso border.
