Energy Transition Outlook: Low-Carbon Pathways Modelling

Energy Transition Outlook: Low-Carbon Pathways Modelling

EnergyDNV (DNV GL), NorwayGlobal2021

Developed a multi-sectoral energy model to simulate pathways to a low-carbon economy as part of DNV’s flagship annual Energy Transition Outlook.

The challenge

Charting credible pathways to a low-carbon economy requires energy models that capture the interplay between sectors, technologies and policy over long horizons — the analytical backbone of DNV’s widely cited Energy Transition Outlook.

Our approach

As Senior Researcher, Dr Benjamin Batinge developed a multi-sectoral energy model to simulate pathways to a low-carbon economy, contributing to DNV’s annual Energy Transition Outlook.

Outcomes

The modelling fed into DNV’s flagship Energy Transition Outlook, an internationally referenced forecast of the global energy transition.

It demonstrated how integrated, multi-sectoral modelling can illuminate the choices that shape a low-carbon future.
