African Infrastructure Climate Vulnerability Funding Proposals

African Infrastructure Climate Vulnerability Funding Proposals

ClimateSustainable Solutions for AfricaLomé, Togo2021

Research and preparation of funding proposals addressing the vulnerability of African infrastructure to a range of climate stressors.

The challenge

Infrastructure across Africa is increasingly exposed to climate stressors such as extreme heat, flooding and shifting rainfall patterns, yet securing finance to build resilience depends on well-evidenced proposals that make the case clearly. Articulating this vulnerability in a form that funders can act upon was the central need.

Our approach

As Senior Climate Policy Consultant, Dr Benjamin Batinge researched and wrote funding proposals examining how African infrastructure is affected by different climate stressors. The work drew together the evidence base and translated it into a structured case for investment.

Outcomes

The work produced funding proposals setting out the climate vulnerability of African infrastructure, providing a basis for pursuing finance to strengthen resilience.
