Africa Centre of Excellence at UENR
Establishment and leadership of an Africa Centre of Excellence delivering postgraduate training, professional short courses and additional funding for centre activities.
The challenge
Building regional research and training capacity in energy and natural resources depends on well-run centres that can attract postgraduate students, train working professionals and sustain themselves financially. Establishing such a centre and steering it to deliver on these fronts is a demanding institutional task.
Our approach
As Centre Leader, Rev. Prof. Ing. Eric Antwi Ofosu led the establishment and running of the Africa Centre of Excellence, overseeing PhD and Masters admissions and the training of professionals through short courses.
He also led the mobilisation of additional funds to support the centre's activities, strengthening its capacity to deliver over the longer term.
Outcomes
The centre was established and made operational, admitting doctoral and Masters candidates and delivering short-course training to professionals.
Additional funds were mobilised to sustain and expand the centre's activities under the World Bank ACE Impact programme.
